The Cedar Creek Cider Cocktail series

It’s time to rethink the cocktail.

One thing’s for sure. Our decades of family history on the Cedar Creek Orchard has taught us a thing or two about apples. We know apples, apple juice, and apple cider.

But what’s life without a little variety, creativity and spice?

The Cedar Creek team got together to discover new ways to enjoy our delicious alcoholic and non-alcoholic cider, mixed with some great pairings and taking inspiration from some traditional fan favourites of the cocktail world.

Next time you’re planning for the arrival of a few guests or have some time to muck around and experiment with your evening beverage, give one of these a go. And let us know what you think, or how you made it even better!

Bubbly to the Core

An upgrade on the traditional mimosa made with OJ, this light and delicious beauty is perfect as a celebratory cheers, a welcome cocktail or a ‘it’s been a long week and I deserve some bubbles’ moment.

You’ll need:
  • 2 cans of Cedar Creek Cider
  • 1 bottle of dry sparkling wine
  • Cinnamon sugar
  • Lemon
  • Thinly sliced apple for garnish

4 Easy Steps:
  1. Prepare four champagne flutes by rubbing the rim with lemon and coating with cinnamon sugar.
  2. Add cider to each glass until ¼ full.
  3. Fill with champagne.
  4. Add apple for garnish and enjoy!
Makes 4 delicious cocktails.


Picnic in the Orchard

A twist on a traditionally red Sangria, our appley sangria is light, sweet and can be prepared ahead of time if needed.
This recipe serves 5.

You’ll need:
  • 2 cans of Cedar Creek Cider
  • 1/3 cup of Fireball
  • 1 bottle of chilled white wine
  • Cinnamon sugar
  • Lemon
  • An apple thinly sliced
  • Cinnamon sticks (for garnish)

3 Easy Steps:
  1. Prepare white wine glasses by rubbing the rim with lemon and coating with cinnamon sugar.
  2. In a large jug, add the cider, Fireball and wine and stir.
  3. Pour out into glasses and top each with apple slice and cinnamon stick. Cheers! 


Miles From Moscow Mule

What happens when you take a Moscow Mule’s vodka-y, gingery, citrusy goodness and add Cedar Creek’s apples to it? Heaven! Try this new take on a classic and really impress your guests. Or, yourself!

You’ll need:
  • 125ml Cedar Creek Cider
  • 125ml your favourite ginger beer
  • 60ml vodka
  • Juice from ½ lime
  • Dash of cinnamon
  • Crushed ice
  • Apple slices for garnish

4 Easy Steps:
  1. Fill a copper mug with crushed ice.
  2. In a small glass, mix the vodka, lime juice and cinnamon. Pour into the mug.
  3. Add your cider and ginger beer and stir well.
  4. Complete with apple garnish and cheers!


Tradition Out The Window

There’s nothing old fashioned about this good thing. Although, if you’re a stickler for tradition, you may want to steer clear of our version of the Old Fashioned that proudly positions apple as the leading man of this story.

You’ll need:
  • 60ml Cedar Creek Cider (use non-alcoholic sparkling apple for a sweeter taste)
  • 60ml bourbon whiskey
  • 1 tsp brown sugar
  • Dash of bitters
  • Apple and orange slices, ground cinnamon and ice for serving

3 Easy Steps:
  1. In a lowball glass, mix the cider, bitters and sugar well until sugar dissolves.
  2. Add whiskey, then drop in ice.
  3. Top with a slice of apple and orange then sprinkle cinnamon to finish. Et, voila!
